Today PicoBrew announced they were opening up the Pico brewing system to allow brewers to make beer using their own ingredients. The update, called UnPak’d, allows users to create their own recipes crafted via PicoBrew’s online recipe crafter tool, and then brew using their own ingredients through a new ‘manual brew’ option available via the updated Pico menu.

Yes. Using the Pico Manual Brewing function you can design your own craft beer and use your own ingredients. See the online Manual Brew Guide under Resources. Alternatively, you can create custom PicoPaks using our Freestyle PicoPak generator, which will allow you to select which hops, grains and yeast you'd like, and the amounts of each.

Existing Pico C owners can also now use their own ingredients by purchasing a Pico C UnPak'd Kit that includes reusable grain and hops beer bags, and reusable bags for cold brew coffee for $19.99.

While you cannot add your own ingredients to Pico, you can create custom PicoPaks using our FreeStyle BrewCrafter. FreeStyle allows you to select which hops, grains, and yeast you'd like, and the amounts of each. We’ll send you your custom PicoPak pre-packaged and ready to brew.

The Pico UnPak'd update allows you to fully-harness the precision and control of your Pico by creating your own custom recipes, and brewing with your own ingredients! When the update completes, you can choose the new Manual Brew option from your Pico's main menu, set the desired time and temperature for your first step, and start the brewing process.
