Do 24 hour Tesco stores sell alcohol all night? The majority of Tesco Superstores and Tesco Extra stores that open 24 hours are licensed to sell alcohol 24 hours, however, in some parts of the country there are 24 hour Tesco supermarkets that aren’t licensed to sell alcohol around the clock.

My local store used to stop selling at 11pm until 8pm except in build up to Christmas, since new manager has taken over they sell it all the time. You are best off giving them a ring and asking. If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 7555

Scottish stores and supermarkets can only sell alcohol between 10am and 10pm Monday to Sunday although core hours can very occasionally be extended or reduced by the local licensing board. Licensing hours are also not automatic - each supermarket needs a licence and has to re-apply for renewals just like a pub or club.

Please note that large 24 hour supermarkets (Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury’s and Morrisons) are not legally allowed to open 24 hours on Sundays, due to Sunday trading laws in England and Wales, so are only an option during the week and on Friday night – they aren’t any use in the early hours of Sunday morning, aka Saturday night.
