Captain Morgan's Original Spiced Rum has the lowest content of alcohol, the least amount of calories and contains no sugar. Hard liquors, including gin, vodka, whiskey and rum, contain no sugar if you do not mix them with anything else. The natural sugars in the fruits and grains are removed in the distillation process.

Finally, understand that alcohol can have a sugar-raising and a sugar-lowering effect on the blood. Alcohol on an empty stomach is quickly processed, causing a temporary rise in blood glucose levels that is acted upon by the body’s insulin in such a way that the end result can be a hypoglycemic effect that could cause confusion, sweatiness, disorientation, and lack of coordination.

Thanks to the beneficial chemical compounds it contains (polyphenol and resveratrol), red wine is one of the best choices for those ditching sugar. One serving, or a large (250ml) glass, of red wine contains just under 1 gram of sugar. That’s about 1/4 of a teaspoon. Of all wines, red has the lowest sugar content.

The residual sugar levels will be in the 0.6 to 2.0 percent sugar per liter range (or 6 to 20 grams of sugar per liter of wine), with extra brut being the driest wine and lowest in sugar content. Fortified Wines: Fortified wines (like Port , Sherry , and Marsala ) can weigh in as high as 15 percent residual sugar (or 150 grams of sugar per liter) but often run a little lower in the 5 percent range.
