  • When your brewer stops brewing, one likely culprit is a tiny coffee ground clogging the "out" hole the coffee goes through. If you open up your Keurig, you'll see (or feel) a sharp needle in the top half (think where the top of the K-cup would be). That needle has a tiny hole in it.

This problem will happen if the on/off switch (on the back of the machine) is shorted internally, was replaced with the wrong type of switch, or is held down intentionally while pressing any buttons on the front. The on/off switch is a momentary type rocker switch. It should feel spring loaded and return to its original position after you press it.

The only time the Caps can cause this to happen is when the K-Cup ® Pack is overfilled or packed to tightly with coffee. The water is pushed through the K-Cup ® Pack under pressure. If the coffee in the K-Cup ® Pack is packed so tight that the water can not get through then the water backs up and the machine turns off. The solution is to use less coffee or a less fine grind. Every morning when I turn on the Keurig, it goes through the water warm-up, then you press the small cup button to put it through its 'cleaning cycle', an 11 oz. clean out of water. Fine. (We learned the hard way, as the first couple times we had smaller cups there with a k-cup in it and had coffee overflowed everywhere)

If your Keurig is plugged in, the water is all heated up but when you press the ‘brew’ button, it does not brew the cup of coffee- there is a possibility of a blockage somewhere in the unit. If everything seems to be in its place and you’re using K-cups, still if your Keurig doesn’t brew, you might want to clean or reset it.

If it is, that means your Keurig machine is ready to turn off automatically 2 hours after your last brew. And if you don’t want that to happen, you need to disable that auto-off switch. You can do so by pressing on the black button of auto-off. This turns off the green-colored light. For Keurig Platinum and Special Edition models
