Select a K-Carafe® pod and place it firmly in the Pod Holder. Please be sure that the number in the circle is at 9 o’clock when inserting. Then, lower the Handle. The brewer will recognize the inserted K-Carafe® pod and optimize to the recommended, customized setting for that particular beverage.

For safety reasons, we designed Keurig carafes to sync with the Keurig® 2.0 brewer to ensure as best we could that when you put in a carafe pod it can safely brew the volume of coffee that will be delivered. Therefore, you will not be able to brew a carafe without the Keurig® 2.0 Carafe or Thermal Carafe.
We no longer attempt to brew a full pot (4-5 cups). Of course, the brewer ought to allow you to select the number of cups that you want, but as I have said earlier, this behavior demonstrates that Keurig has a firmware problem that they need to address.
