This Lodi wine has received good scores from various critics: the 2017 vintage was given a score of 91 by Wine Enthusiast. This wine has won many prizes: the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition awarded the 2014 vintage Gold and the 2013 vintage Double Gold. This is the second highest-priced wine produced from Cabernet Franc in Lodi.

Michael David have actually been making their Inkblot line of wines since 2005, but it’s only recently that they’ve made them readily available to the public, albeit in limited quantities. 300-400 cases was the original level of production the Inkblot was set at and was allocated only to members of its wine club. Production has now been upped to 2,500 cases and for the first time is available in markets outside of California.

We loved the whole line (which also includes a Petit Verdot and a Tannat) but at that time they were only available through the winery.

Inkblot’s dark, deep violet hue poured into the glass entices you to explore the wine further. Layered aromas of blackberry jam, orange peel, pepper and worn leather showcase the wine’s rustic elegance. A rich, weighty and full-bodied Petit Verdot highlighting flavors of ripe black fig, raspberry and pepper.
