While there isn't considered to be any drug interaction between the Z-Pack (azithromycin), drinking alcohol in general isn't recommended while taking ANY antibiotic. Not only has the consumption of alchol been linked with decrease immune function (not good if you are treating an infection!), alcohol has the potential to exacerbate the gastrointestinal effects of antibiotics.

I'd wager your headache was more a result of sinus pressure and dehdration from drinking than from a negative interaction between alchol and azythromycin. So yeah, while drinking probably isn't impacting the efficacy of the antibiotic, it sure isn't helping you stay hydrated and thus get better.-WAGN
