  • Expired license aren’t good for purchasing alcohol. Again, you might find a clerk who doesn’t care, but one who likes their job won’t accept an ID that says underage on it. If you are about to turn 21 or are already 21, go to the DMV and get your license updated.

Can you still buy alcohol with an expired drivers license? Maybe. In at least the state of Oregon you normally cannot use an expired ID to purchase alcohol. However, due to restrictions on DMV office access and such due to COVID, Oregon for now allows it: OLCC temporarily accepts expired State of Oregon issued ID.

You might be able to. It’s worth a shot, the worst they can say is no. I’m well over 21 but have been buying alcohol with an expired license since July but that’s because of the Covid extension. Always at a store though. Haven’t been to a bar or restaurant since February.
