Answered 3 years ago. Yes, you may purchase tobacco and beer with a Walmart gift card/shopping card. It is one of many forms of payment you can use at the register lane or even at the self check outs. The only stipulations in purchasing these products, you have to be of legal age, 18 for tobacco, and 21 for beer/wine.

No problem with delivery. However, with out work, it is often too short of notice to order them. Our store, will not make them on-site. This is disappointing since we spend thousands in our local store. We love that you can't purchase tobacco or alcohol products but we are likely going to have to choose another merchant to provide gift cards.

You can buy anything with them, including alcohol and cigarettes. In some cases, I’d prefer that the gift card worked like food stamps. I want it to only be able to buy food. Are there stores which do something like that? In some cases I want to help someone be able to buy food, but don’t want them to be able to buy alcohol or cigarettes.

Many stores unless they're liquor stores many retail outlet chains don't permit alcohol or cigarettes on gift cards. Call Target beforehand to check their policies but I'll bet you can't buy liquor. You can always sell your gift card for cash.
