Can you buy alcohol with a gift card at Target? Many stores unless they're liquor stores many retail outlet chains don't permit alcohol or cigarettes on gift cards. Target GiftCards require an access number to redeem the gift card funds in store or on Target.com. Gift cards must have barcodes that are scanable in order to redeem in a Target store. Target GiftCards are solely for use at Target stores and on Target.com. Target GiftCards cannot be used to purchase any prepaid or specialty gift cards. If someone claims that you should pay them in Target GiftCards, please report it at ftccomplaintassistant.gov.

If you order a card online or by phone, you can choose to add a restriction for the person who gets it to purchase alcohol, tobacco, or lottery with it. These gift cards cannot be used to purchase other gift cards. You can’t return the gift cards and must be careful not to lose them because the store won’t replace them.
